About the image
Alberto Vargas was an accomplished draftsman, and from the late 1920s, he worked for a number of movie studios, doing everything from portraits to movie posters to set design. In 1939, he walked out in solidarity with union advocates at Warner Brothers and was blacklisted for a period.
