About the image

As we gaze into the alluring bedroom eyes of this beautiful young woman, we are struck by her sensuality, tenderness, and tranquility. Her soft skin is delicately caressed by a revealing blue negligee. "Sweet Dreams" was the second piece Alberto produced for Esquire Magazine and appeared as the gatefold in the November 1940 issue. This is a superb example of Alberto's masterful watercolor technique and meticulous attention to detail.

The model for this beautiful image is most certainly Anna Mae, Alberto's wife and focus of his devotion.

Originally published as an Esquire gatefold in November, 1940. The original artwork is part of the permanent collection at the Julia Spencer Museum at the University of Kansas.
