About the image
Appearing as the June 1943 gatefold in Esquire Magazine, this painting was truly inspiring and morale boosting for the American G.I.'s serving in the Pacific theater of war. Although the world was at war in the South Pacific, Americans were enchanted by the idea of exotic women on tropical islands. Alberto created this painting, reminiscent of Dorothy Lamour and Hedi Lamar, to satisfy those romantic desires.
