Big Brother and the Holding Company at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. The band was part of the Bay Area psychedelic music scene that also produced the Grateful Dead, Quicksilver Messenger Service and Jefferson Airplane. Janis Joplin, pictured here laughing, was the band's lead singer.
