Legendary guitarist Duane Allman of The Allman Brothers in this intimate shot taken at Redwal Studios in Macon, Georgia. His nickname, "Skydog," was given to him by soul singer Wilson Pickett to replace an earlier one, "Dog." Pickett was referring to the fact that Duane was always up, always cheerful, as this image illustrates.
Allman's life was tragically cut short by a motorcycle accident in 1971.
