About the image

This portrait of Janis Joplin was taken for an Eye magazine feature story about her and Grace Slick (of Jefferson Airplane).

"In the late sixties, Janis Joplin lived around the corner from my San Francisco studio. In addition to shooting her at live Big Brother concerts, I made photos in her Haight-Ashbury apartment with her dog and cat, in my studio, and pictured here in 1968, in the attic retreat of a good friend." - Baron Wolman

Release Notes:
For most of his images, Baron Wolman offered signed limited edition photographs in the several sizes listed below. His black and white photographs were printed as silver gelatins, and his color photographs were C-prints. These were typically printed to order in New Mexico and then numbered, titled, and signed by him.
