Mr. Tambourine Man, The Byrds debut album was released in 1965 by Columbia Records. It is best known for defining the category of folk-rock and proving to be the first American “worthy challenger” to the British Invasion and representative bands like the Beatles. The album peaked at #6 on the Billboard Top LP’s in the U.S. and reached #7 in the United Kingdom. Its predecessor, the Mr. Tambourine Man single, reached #1 on the Billboard Top 100 and the U.K. Singles Chart.
