About the image

A close-up of Marilyn Monroe as she lies on a glittery surface holding several strings of pearls up to the sides of her face. Between her hands, she is beaming. Bert managed to convince Marilyn to have a bare face for this shoot [except for a little eyeliner for her characteristic cat-eye look]. He wanted her natural beauty to be captured in his photos.

Exhibition History:
Several photographs from Stern's archive were featured in our exhibition: Marilyn Monroe & James Dean “Forever Young”, February 2009.

Release Notes:
Bert Stern produced museum-quality signed photographs in several sizes as limited editions during his lifetime.
