Led Zeppelin in Front of The Starship Tour Airplane, NY, July 24, 1973

As chief photographer for Rock Scene Magazine in the 1970s, Gruen specialized in candid, behind the scenes photo features.

Bob Gruen was hired to photograph Led Zeppelin for their performance in Pittsburgh, PA later that evening. When he arrived at the small private airport Robert Plant asked him to take a picture of the band in front of their plane. This is one of the first photographs he ever shot of the band and it is one of the most famous images in rock 'n' roll.
