About the image
John Lennon sits for a portrait that was later used on the back cover of The Penguin, a compilation book comprised of Lennon's A Spaniard in the Works and In His Own Write, released by Penguin Books in 1966. The book cover design, while photographed by Duffy is also credited to Alan Aldridge - who was the Art Director at Penguin and would soon become close with The Beatles and Apple Records and later illustrated their book of lyrics.
