David Bowie, Cornwall, 1981
By Carinthia West
About the image
In 1981, I was staying at Port Eliot, an extraordinarily idyllic estate in Cornwall, and invited my friends, Coco Schwab and David Bowie to stay, along with David's ten year old son Joey, and his longtime nanny and friend of the family, Marion. I knew of David's interest in arts and crafts and Coco's interest in photography, so we all went over to visit Graham Ovendon, an artist who lived nearby, and who was a photo historian and collector of Victorian photography. Joey is now a successful film director (Duncan Jones), and directed 'Moon' and 'Source Code'.
