Mick Jagger, Ronnie Wood & Jesse James Wood, Malibu, CA, 1977

About the image
This is one of several photographs I took of Ronnie and Mick clowning around with Ronnie’s newly born son, Jesse. I always think Jesse is watching Mick for tricks on how to perform to an audience. Looking at this photo, some people are surprised by the fact that two of the Rolling Stones can look so relaxed and down-to-earth, but life with Mick and Ronnie was exactly this; full of jokes, snatches of song, and camaraderie. It was taken at Ronnie’s beach house in February 1977. That sofa could tell a story or two. Everyone sat on it. Perhaps it was the reason Ronnie nicknamed Malibu Colony ‘Malibu de Bum Bum’.
