Janis Joplin points during a show at the Royal Albert Hall in 1969. The blues singer, who was from Port Arthur, Texas, first rose to prominence as a member of Big Brother and the Holding Company. She was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995.
