Genesis Publications

b.1974

Established in 1974, Genesis Publications is an independent publishing house true to the arts of printing and craftsmanship. Inspired by the traditions of the private press, we are pioneering in our methods and materials. Often combining traditional bookmaking crafts, such as fine leather bindings, with modern materials such as perspex and aluminium, we create books that are works of art in themselves.

Hand finished by master bookbinders they include special design features such as: hand-cut leather, mixed media bindings, gilt-edged pages, gold foil embellishments, trace papers, bespoke bookmarkers and hand-sewn detailing.

In an interview with The New York Times, Genesis' late founder Brian Roylance commented, 'I don't know of many people who go to this much trouble to produce a book anymore. But I think there is a future for it.' Inspired by this idea, Genesis is proud to create some of the most sought after books in the world.

Our limited editions are a feature in the collections of the world's finest libraries, including the New York Public Library's Rare and Fine Printed Book Department.

Authors and contributors who have participated in Genesis limited editions include literary titans such as Allen Ginsberg, William Burroughs and Arthur C. Clarke; stars of film and television such as Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks, Roger Moore, Michael Palin and Eric Idle; fine artists such as Andy Warhol, Shepard Fairey, Yoko Ono and Peter Blake; sporting legends such as Michael Owen and Jackie Stewart; icons of fashion including Naomi Campbell, Grace Coddington and Kate Moss; and the most important musicians of modern times, including Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Paul McCartney, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood, Pete Townshend and Ravi Shankar.

Genesis Publications celebrates a rich history of artistic collaboration, graphic design, technical discovery and craft bookbinding with each new edition it creates. Your book is a work of art, designed to be treasured for a lifetime.
