About the image

Famed Rock photographer Gered Mankowitz captured this image of Paul Weller, Rick Buckler, and Bruce Foxton under the Westway, in West London, 1977. This stark black-and-white portrait was captured during the shoot for the front cover of This Is the Modern World, the second album by British punk band The Jam. Released just over 6 months from their debut, this album soon reached #22 on the UK Album Charts.
