About the image

Reflected 'Trane is one of my more important Coltrane - and jazz - images, made that hot August evening, backstage at The Village Gate, New York, 1961.

Coltrane is reading quietly between sets. John was a very thoughtful and gentle man who after kicking his drug habit went on to be one of the major and influential voices on the music.-- Herb Snitzer
