Edie Sedgwick, Superstar, NYC, 1966
By Jerry Schatzberg
About the image
Edie Sedgwick moved to New York City from California to become a model in the early 1960s. In 1965, she met Andy Warhol and quickly became his muse and the "It" Factory girl, appearing in many of his films including Vinyl, Poor Little Rich Girl and Chelsea Girls.
She came from a wealthy but very troubled family, and when her father cut her off financially, she sadly became more reckless with drug use and died of an overdose at the age of 28.
