Faye Dunaway, Legs, New York, 1968
By Jerry Schatzberg
About the image
Faye Dunaway first met Jerry Schatzberg when Esquire sent him to Florida for a photo-shoot in 1966. She remembers the event so clearly that she wrote about it in her autobiography, “At one point I began crying because he was being so heartbreakingly kind to me. All my life, I’ve been the sort of person who could shatter easily. . . . Jerry somehow managed to reach me, to let me know that in this I could trust him, that the photos would be wonderful, that it would be okay.”
This image was captured just over a year later, during the shoot for the cover of Newsweek, that appeared on the March 4,1968 issue.
