About the image

Jimi Hendrix, Mitch Mitchell, and Noel Redding of The Experience pose for a group portrait in a darkened room at the Forest Hills Tennis Stadium in Queens, NY. The band were on their first US tour, performing as an opening act for The Monkees, just a few weeks after their stunning debut at Monterey Pop.

This image is printed with the slight damage that the original negative suffered from the developing process when the wet negatives are clipped up to dry (hence the name 'Clips').  The marks add a fitting element of the psychedelic to the visual aspect of the portrait.
