"The Jimi Hendrix Experience came to San Francisco in February of 1968 to play four nights at the Winterland Ballroom. On the final night of the engagement, Big Brother and the Holding Company also appeared, and Joplin and Hendrix joked around together backstage with Jim Marshall before the show." -- Joel Selvin, from The Haight: Love, Rock and Revolution.
