The concert was a double-billing of Thelonious Monk (with his quartet) and the John Coltrane Ensemble, which included Elvin Jones and Rashied Ali on drums; Juno Lewis, percussion; Pharoah Sanders, tenor sax; Alice Coltrane, piano; Jimmy Garrison, bass; and Donald Garrett, bass and bass clarinet.
