On March 20, 1969 John and Yoko flew from Paris to Gibraltar, where they were married at The British Consulate. They flew back to Paris two hours later. "The City In My Heart" is a depiction of John and Yoko in front of the Eiffel Tower. It is one drawing in a series of sketches that John drew as a recreation of their wedding and honeymoon.
The city of Paris held a special place in their hearts. “It was us sharing our wedding with whoever wanted to share it with us. Our relatives are the fans. So that was our way of letting them join in the wedding.” – John Lennon, 1980.
