About the image
The Beatles wave to the adoring crowd at New York's JFK Airport in August 1965. This was the group's third visit to the United States. Two months earlier, Queen Elizabeth II had appointed the four Beatles Members of the Order of the British Empire (MBE). In this photograph, George Harrison can be seen clutching his MBE bag.
