About the image
A studio portrait of Prince from 1993, a time when he changed his stage name to the Love Symbol, which is a combination of the signs for male and female. Because the symbol was/is unpronounceable, he was often referred to as "Symbol," "The Artist Formerly Known as Prince," or simply "The Artist."
