The Rolling Stones headlined the free festival "The Stones in the Park" at London's Hyde Park on July 5, 1969. An audience of over 250,000 people attended this event, which was The Rolling Stones first live performance in two years and was originally organized to introduce Mick Taylor as the new guitarist, replacing Brian Jones. Sadly, Jones had been found dead only days before, so the event became a memorial celebration of his life.
