About the image
Howard Cosell interviews Muhammad Ali outside the Armed Forces Examining and Entrance Station in Houston in April 1967, just after the boxer refused to be drafted into the United States Army. The New York Athletic Commission suspended his boxing license and stripped him of his title on that day as did other boxing commissions. At his trial, the jury found Ali guilty and the maximum sentence was imposed. The case eventually went to the U.S. Supreme Court which reversed the conviction. (Image 4026)
