About the image
Dustin Hoffman won the Oscar for Best Actor in the 1979 award ceremony for his role as Ted Kramer in the film Kramer vs. Kramer.

Academy Award Winner Portrait Series
In the late-1950s Hollywood artist Nicholas Volpe embarked on a project to draw portraits of every Oscar winner for Best Actor and Best Actress going back to the very first award given in 1928. He finished the first phase in 1961, with 67 portraits (due to one tie) and they were introduced to patrons of the Brown Derby Restaurant in 1962. These original charcoal illustrations were a special feature in their newly christened "Academy Room" at the Beverly Hills location, and Volpe agreed to an exclusive lifetime commission for the Brown Derby, adding 2 more portraits each year through 1979.

Collector's Notes:
Over a period of more than 50 years, The Brown Derby Restaurants amassed one of the most famous celebrity-art collections of all time. These original works of art come directly from the legendary collection, were featured on display in one or more of their historic locations, and each one is hand-signed by the artist.
