David Bowie Cracked, Slim's, San Francisco 1991

About the image
"Bowie! The name brings up many images. When the opportunity to photograph him came up, I wasn't sure which character I would deal with. Much to my surprise I worked with a humble, quiet, sincere man. During dinner at the Cypress Club in S.F., upon hearing that I was from Cleveland, he spent the next hour or so, talking about how hard the music business is, how Cleveland helped launch his Ziggy Album, completely blowing off all the Big Shots in the room. It was refreshing to see someone of his stature retain his sense of humour and humility. A tip of the Hatlo Hat to one of the great individuals in the music business." - Pat Johnson
