About the image
The famed Acid Tests began in Northern California in late 1965 as events centered around the recreational use and the advocacy of LSD.  They were the brain-child of writer and activist Ken Kesey and his Merry Pranksters and were closely associated with The Grateful Dead - who played their first show under that band name at the second Acid Test in San Jose.  After a long year of run-ins with police and Kesey serving jail time for marijuana possession, these organized events came to a close with The Acid Test Graduation, held on Halloween night, 1966.
