About the image
An unshaven John Lennon touches his cheek whilst holding his guitar. Whilst at the ashram, Paul Saltzman noticed a distinct tension between John and his wife, Cynthia Lennon. He said that while they were friendly to everyone else, there was a coolness in how they interacted with one another. One afternoon, Paul and John were talking about heartbreak. The pair lamented lost love, but then John added mischievously, "you know, Paul, the really great thing about love is you always get another chance, don't you?".
