About the image
John Lennon smiles whilst wearing his trademark round glasses and Cynthia stares at him. Both are in traditional Indian garb and wearing garlands of red and gold marigolds. Whilst at the ashram, Paul Saltzman noticed a distinct tension between John and his wife. He said that while they were friendly to everyone else there was a coolness in how they interacted with one another. On the plane ride home to England, John drank too much Scotch and admitted to everyone that he'd had multiple affairs during their marriage. They divorced the same year.
