A color portrait of John Lennon taken in London, circa 1965. It was with The Beatles and especially John Lennon, with whom he became close friends, that photographer Robert Whitaker created his most famous and enduring work.  This image appeard on the commemorative edition of LIFE Magazine marking the 25th anniversary of his death.
