About the image

This original acrylic, painted in 1990, is based on rock formations in the ancient seabeds of Utah and Arizona. Roger Dean was interested in the vastness of scale, as well as the juxtaposition of earth and sky. Also, notice how the rocks anchor the image, with the heavens twisting in the background.

This image appeared on the 1991 Yes Union Tour poster and subsequent DVD releases of this tour.
