The master of suspense, film director Alfred Hitchcock, is instantly recognizable and perfectly spooky in this masterful image by extreme portraitist Sebastian Kruger. This portrait also includes a reference to one of Hitchock's most famous films The Birds, by way of a blonde doll being tugged at by a large black bird.
Sebastian Krüger's subjects are generally artists he admires and his portraits, while caricatures, always contain a great deal of kindness while at the same time thoroughly subverting "the world of beautiful appearances." This contradiction is at the heart of Krüger's work, a characteristic that has made him extremely popular with art connoisseurs all over the world.
Release Notes:
Each canvas print is hand-embellished by the artist, so it must be shipped flat to preserve the artwork's delicate surface.
Special Feature: The print itself is produced on canvas, which, when stretched, gives the entire piece about 2" of depth, and thus forms a flat surface on all four sides. On the top surface, above the portrait, Kruger has included a small pool of blood - which is the source for the drip in mid-air that has caught Hitchcock's eye in the portrait!
Collector's Notes:
Each museum-quality print is signed and numbered by Sebastian Kruger.
Buyers will receive a certificate of authenticity following delivery of their artwork. Please contact us with any questions!
