Nigel Kennedy, Kindred Spirit, 1995

About the image
Kindred Spirit was designed for the album cover of some of Nigel Kennedy's favorite Fritz Kreisler pieces, but was not used. Kreisler was a classical violinist who played throughout the twenties and thirties.
"I designed the album cover around the twin muses of Kreisler's life - playing and composing - and pictured them as female shapes, or silhouettes. They were connected to the one source, Kreisler himself, by means of strings- strings to the violin of course, but also strings of attatchement. The whole image was intended to be minimal, geometirc and elegant. A dash of mystery perhaps, but mostly cool and classical. Tony May took an excellent backlit photo at Camber Sands on the South Coast of England late in the afternoon with perfect winter sun. We loved it. Nigel said he loved it. What could go wrong?" - Storm Thorgerson
