The Offspring, Hit This Single Cover (Glass Family), 2003 (20/20)

About the image
"I think they liked the title Splinter for being sharp and angular like their music and with several different meanings, varying from the simple wooden shaving which stabs your finger to break-up, the splintering of a relationship or an outfit like a band, or even a family.
"Our glass family, made in fact of sugar glass ...are gathered in their well-to-do garden by the fishpond in order to be photographed for the family album, and also back-lit to highlight the glassiness. Personally I always thought that the little girl was the most spooky - present but transparent, like a ghost or a memory - a memory of when the family were together in the flesh, not as glass." --Storm Thorgerson
Release Notes:
Storm created a series called "20/20" comprised of 20 of his favorite images in limited editions of only 20 pieces (plus 2 Artist Proofs) each. Most certainly a play on the phrase "20/20" referring to perfect vision, the set was designed to showcase some of the pieces he valued most, including many of his more obscure album cover images.
