About the image
After a long day battle for a strategic landing zone deep in the North Vietnamese Army's base, a wounded paratrooper is helped toward an awaiting helicopter. The injured man, Alfred Rascon, the medic in the re-con platoon, had just been hit four times, saving the wounded men of his unit.  Rascon received a Silver Star for his actions at the time, and was later awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor, bestowed by President Bill Clinton in 2001.
