Pardon My Back, 1916

This original painting, a combination of watercolor, gouache, and ink on paper, was produced while Alberto Vargas was in Europe.

What's apparent, even at 20-years-old, is Alberto's vast talent and sophistication as an artist, illustrated by the way the color of the paper is incorporated into the composition as if it was a color in his palette.
