Green Room (Seated Nude Young Woman), Back View, c. 1930s

This lush green pastel has a companion piece featuring the same model (most likely Jeanne Dean), the same tones, and the same environment, revealing a conscious exploration of the figure from two points of view. One important characteristic is the placement of the hands and the way Vargas enjoyed using them as important elements of the composition.
