Dr. John, a singer and pianist from New Orleans, released
Dr. John’s Gumbo in 1972 as a tribute to the music of New Orleans. The album itself is a series of covers of classic New Orleans music. The album was rated #402 on Rolling Stone’s list of 500 greatest albums of all time in 2003. The picture shown on the album cover was shot in front of the mural on The Farmer John Company, on Soto Street in Vernon, California.
