Steve McQueen purchased his Cooper Formula Junior after seeing what they could do in England while he was filming The War Lover. He then shipped it to the United States and raced it in several road races in 1962 (winning the Santa Barbara Road Race in it) until the Hollywood Studios forced him to choose between acting and racing.
