About the image

Janis Joplin performing at the Woodstock Festival, NY, 1969. This image in black & white, was used on the back cover of the book  "Goin Down with Janis Joplin".

In the wee hours of Sunday morning, Janis Joplin glided to the microphone in her tie-dyed velvet bellbottoms and blouse, her soulful, tortured voice, and, to some people’s disappointment, without Big Brother & The Holding Company.
