About the image

Bert Stern was granted a sitting with Marilyn Monroe six weeks before her tragic death. The three-day session yielded approximately 2,500 pictures - fashion, portrait, and nude studies - of "indescribable sensual and human vibrancy," as evidenced by this shot of the starlet smiling into the lens.

Exhibition History:
Several photographs from Stern's archive were featured in our exhibition: Marilyn Monroe & James Dean “Forever Young”, February 2009.

Release Notes:
Bert Stern produced museum-quality signed photographs in several sizes as limited editions during his lifetime.

Collector's Notes:
When he passed away, he left a small archive of signed photographs, some of which may still be available. Occasionally we will also have pieces offered for resale from private collectors.

Estate-stamped limited editions of this image may also be available. Please contact us to inquire!

All buyers will receive a certificate of authenticity following the delivery of their artwork.
