Led Zeppelin performed for an audience of 40,000 at Three Rivers Stadium in Pittsburgh, PA. The band hired a film crew to shoot footage of this concert in preparation for their upcoming three-night string of sold-out concerts at Madison Square Garden in NYC. Some of the footage from this evening was later also used in The Song Remains the Same, released in 1976.
