On assignment for Creem Magazine, Bob Gruen met up with the Allman Brothers Band on tour and traveled with them on their tourbus through the South. The Creem article was published in November of 1972, called "Deep in the Heart of Dixie". (L-R) Johanny Johanson, Dickey Betts, Gregg Allman, Berry Oakley and Butch Trucks standing in the reeds of a roadside pitstop while driving through the American South.
