This photograph was used for the back cover of the 1998 album, Experience Hendrix: The Best of Jimi Hendrix. Jimi appears to be swallowed by the green and purple smoke, a fitting reference to his iconic song, "Purple Haze." Photographer David Montgomery actually created a fire in his studio with lighter fluid in order to create the smokey atmosphere!
