The Modified Motorcycle Association of California was founded in March, 1973 to advocate for the legal rights of all bikers. Photographer Dennis Anderson joined them on assignment for Chopper Magazine, for the MMA's first Ride for Freedom, a rally from the State Capitol in Sacramento to Angel's Camp in the Sierras - where all riders were welcome, regardless of their affiliations or machines. The threat of helmet requirements affected all bikers, so this was intended to be a group effort to raise both money and awareness.
Dennis enjoyed a wide range of friendships and associations with bikers all over the country. Hundreds of his photographs have been published both on the cover and inside a variety of magazines including Chopper and Creem.
