On the quest to come up with the front album cover image, Ethan Russell joined the Who for a show in Northern England where he set up and photographed a portrait in their dressing room that would become the back cover of the album. This tableau captures all four members of the band sitting around a table looking somehwat exhausted - which is fitting as they had just performed one of their trademark, universally admired, hard-hitting performances.
