The Abbey Road Album Cover 7-Piece Suite is a matched-set of all of the photographs taken for the album cover shoot by Iain Macmillan on August 8th, 1969.
Release Notes:
Iain Macmillan first began producing the outtake photographs in 2001. At the time, Macmillan was only able to produce the outtake and back cover images as signed, limited edition R-prints because he did not yet have permission to release the front cover image.
At the end of 2004, through a special agreement with Apple Corps LTD., he was finally authorized to produce a signed, limited edition of the album cover image as well.
This was the first time the entire photo-session was made available and the first time collector's could own a complete, matched-number set of ALL the photographs taken that day.
Collector's Notes:
Very few complete matched-number sets exist in the world. Iain was only able to create four suites from the numbered edition in the 20" x 24" Sheet size. He also created one or two suites in a 16" x 20" Sheet size, and one suite as a signed Artist's Proof in a 30" x 40" Sheet size. Later, we were able to coordinate another matched-set for a collector in the 20" x 24" Sheet size.
SFAE sold all five 20" x 24" suites and the 30" x 40" suites by 2006, and all of the individual photographs were sold out shortly thereafter.
These rare suites have become among the most sought-after and valuable rock 'n' roll collector's items in the world.
In November, 2014 one 16" x 20" suite famously sold for £180,000 at Bloomsbury Auctions in London, making global headlines.
Occasionally we will be able to offer a suite for resale from one of our previous buyers. Please contact us for the latest availability and pricing.
