Not only was Jimi Hendrix one of the greatest guitarists of all-time, but his flamboyant fashion sense made him an icon of the counter-culture. This photo by the legendary Jerry Schatzberg demonstrates the care Hendrix took in his outward appearance as he checks his hair in the mirror.
This photograph was captured backstage at the Forest Hills Tennis Stadium in Queens, NY in July of 1967. This was one of the three shows Hendrix and The Experience performed there as the opening act for the Monkees - just a month after his stunning US appearance at Monterey Pop.
